When Moving Day Comes a Tea or Coffee Break Works Wonders with your Removal Company

When you are choosing a removal company you do need to be careful. Most moving companies are honest but, as with anything else, you will find the cowboys out there and the onus is on you to make the right decision. I would certainly not recommend anybody to choose a moving company that asks for money prior to the delivery and I would certainly not pick a removal company that is not prepared to come to my house to give me a proper estimate. Always beware of hidden costs because these can mount up quite considerably. I much prefer to be given an accurate estimate that is considered binding by the removal company, with the price guaranteed never to increase above what I was quoted. Another thing you will find with the genuine removal company: they will never harass you or pressurize you into buying additional items such as packaging; although this is available should you need it.
Customer Service
Relocation is often something that many people only do once or twice in their lifetime; with others, such as me, relocation becomes a fact of life! One way to ensure your chosen removal company will suite you is how they respond to constant questions. Regardless of whether the removal company you have chosen is a large or a small firm, they will have a customer service facility that will be able to answer any questions you may have – no matter how silly you may think them, if your mind can be put at rest then your removal company is doing its job.
In some instances, especially if the firm you book is a small independent outfit, your removal company may even give you a discount for being flexible about your removal date. This is certainly something worth asking about. Any removal company worth their salt will provide you with a copy of their terms and conditions as well as a copy of their insurance once you have signed up and made an official booking with them.
Removal Day
The removal day should be busy but is should not be fraught with problems if you have done all the preparations beforehand. Make sure that any pets you have are away from the vicinity of the actual move, preferably in a pet crate to keep them secure. The best way I have found to deal with pets on removal day is to book them into kennels and cattery overnight. The way the animals don’t get stressed and you can focus on the job in hand. Similarly, if at all possible, take your children to their grandparents for the day.
When the removal men arrive they will walk through your property, placing stickers on all your boxes and furniture before starting to load. Loading is quite often a long job and the removal guys would usually welcome a cup of tea to help things along, so make sure that when packing, you pack all your tea and coffee making items in one box – and don’t forget the teaspoons! They always seem to get forgotten during a house move! However, most people welcome the chance to get to know you, even if it is on an acquaintanceship level and a cup of tea or coffee makes a very welcome interlude that helps make the removal day go more smoothly.
